Have your own money for your own hobbies and surprises for your partner but have a joint account for bills, paying for the kids and things that you may want to do together. Always keep a portion to yourself though.

It's basic math really. If you get 10% ROI per annum on your investments, which is pretty good, but you're paying 28% on your credit card, it makes no sense to invest until you're back in the black. The only exception would be a mortgage, since the rate tends to be fairly low and real estate tends to appreciate in value.

2 adults, $280 including non-food products. Plus a 5% cash back on Walmart card (paid off monthly). Plus another 5% cash back for clicking on Cap One affiliate link prior to online purchase. Total monthly spending averages about $250 for all groceries, paper products and personal care items. We never eat out. Everything is cooked from scratch including bread.

It’s called the norm, honey. The average person working 2-3 jobs just to get by and provide for their family doesn’t have the luxury of a bottomless money pit to straight out purchase transportation. Try getting your smug arse down off your pedestal and take a look at how the majority of the free world are actually having to live.

It's nothing to do with the loan. The issue is buying a new car whether you pay by credit or cash. If I could afford it I would buy a year old car.

We drive our vehicles for many years. Every month we put money into our savings account and eventually invest in a CD. By the time our vehicles wear out we have enough money saved to pay cash for its replacement. I bought my wife a new car a couple of years ago for her 50th birthday. Her Camry was 18 years old, so we donated it to our church. It was mechanically sound and it was given to a single mother who desperately needed a car. We sold our 13 year old pickup and traded in our 5 year old Subaru Forester Touring LEMON on a 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs. I’m quite sure that I’ll be driving my Tacoma until I die.

I teached my children how to protect the car they already own. Unless of course you want other people to tell you how to take care of your car. They are cars that need maintenance. And oh yeah, hit that pothole giant full speed and add $500.00 to your next misery. LoL i see this every day. Try to avoid those as best you can and wash vacuum your car like you care for a loved one. I spend very little time and money on my cars, but i keep them clean and i just like to use them to drive around. (Just a note: I'm a car collector that has many cars)

Having worked at car dealership for 6 years as an automative photographer. Some of the sales managers take your old Subaru and will drive it for years. After giving you pennies on the dollar as a trade in. They will tell you that homes and vehicles are the biggest investment of your life. But they will take that old perfectly clean used Buick and take it for their own daily driver... For years...for darn near free! If you can afford a new car, great, go for it. But if you are poor and need transportation, get some cash together and buy a car straight up. Like $3000.00 or even less if you have a mechanic hubby.. You might need repairs such as exhaust or tires on it. But just drive it. Who cares? It's paid for. You have transportation. If you are poor, just try to get a car that has reliable track record and try to get $2500.00 to own it. If you are really smart, you can get one for like $250.00 bucks. Just don't be dumb and not have insurance or tickets. And you can be driving a car, even a collector car for dirt cheap. But at the same time, if you can afford that new Mercedes or BMW just buy it.

Hard to believe anything made by Volkswagen would make a most reliable list. I bought my Tacoma, yes, brand new, in 2006. I was driving a long way back and forth to work at the time and needed something reliable. But … it’s now 2024 and I’m still driving it everyday! I think I got my money’s worth.

I beg to differ, student loans on a low value degree is worse. They can repo the car, you can default or file bankruptcy. But that student loan.........no escape, and the juice is always running. An 18yo buying a mustang at 10% is less of a long-term blunder than a degree in gender studies. My 0.02
